Sometimes it’s too hard to find the words to tell the people around you how you’re feeling…sometimes you have the words and just can’t get them out. For days like that, I have a work-around, a symbol.
Thankfully I have a husband I can talk to about my depression and anxiety issues. Though he can’t always relate to everything I’m feeling, he will always listen and help me the best he can. I explained to him that some days I just can’t talk about it…some days the words elude me and others just mentioning the “D” word is enough to bring everything crashing down and leave me sobbing. For days like this (what I refer to as “Blue Days”) I have a bracelet I wear to show him without words that I am hurting. It’s a small thing…but it lets him know that I can use his support, and it helps.
